Yearly Archives: 2011

Traditions are important. They remind of us the past and give us something to look forward to in the future. They unite people. The Obremski family has the wonderful tradition of having a big family photo taken every year and they have kept this tradition for decades. I can only imagine that it wasn’t always easy to keep this tradition – kids grow, people get busy, and taking photos isn’t always on the top of everyone’s priority list. But this family has made it happen year after year and I can only imagine the joy and memories that are captured in that collection of photos.

This year, I was honored to be the photographer chosen to shoot the annual Obremski family Christmas photo! After being rained out twice, we moved our shoot indoors. These photos were all taken as the wind blew and rain poured outside and I was oh so thankful that the Obremski’s found a place for us to shoot indoors! I loved meeting each and every member of this sweet family and I so appreciated their flexibility and cheerfulness.

Linda, Dana, Jack, Luke, Charlie, Ryan, Leah, Aidan, Lincoln, Brooklyn, Krista, and Larry – thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You were such a blessing to me and I am so thankful that I was able to be a part of your Christmas tradition this year. I hope you enjoy your photos!

Luke is California’s newest licensed driver.

There is just something so special about childhood friends. They just get you in a way no one else does. They know your parents, your siblings, and remember your childhood pets. Kim was one of my best friends in childhood and remains one of my best friends today. She is encouraging, honest, fun, and such a great mom. Our relationship has changed over the years, of course, but we share a sweet connection that I hope will last a lifetime. And Kim’s family … well, I adore them too. Her husband, Sam, is amazing. Thoughtful, kind, hilarious, and a great husband and father. And their son, Owen, is an absolute treasure. He was the most cooperative child I’ve ever photographed and I just love his enthusiasm and laugh!

Kim, Sam, and Owen – thank you for such a wonderful afternoon. You guys are the best and I am so blessed to have you in my life! These are some of my favorite photos that I have ever taken and I hope you love them as much as I do!

Peanut, short for Peanut Butter, is a bunny. She is also a celebrity. She helps students all day long in her Mom’s classroom and has over 450 facebook fans. In my circle of influence, Peanut is a more influential bunny than even Bugs himself, and that’s saying something!

Peanut wanted some photos with her family and her canine siblings, so we got together one afternoon and I tried my hand at pet photography. It’s actually not all that different from photographing children, I found out. All I had to do was make animal noises to get their attention, deal with a little drool, and promise them treats for their good behavior. Standard stuff here at Megan Hartley Photography! Thankfully, Peanut’s family is incredible and they made my job easy. They truly love one another (and their pets!) and I had such a wonderful time spending the afternoon with them!

Peanut and family, I hope you enjoy your photos!  😉

The star herself … I think she’s thinking “Hey, Mom!”

I love love love this family. Love them! Every time I take photos of them they make me feel like one of the family. It is such a testament to their kindness, their hospitality, and most of all their loving spirits. And the youngest member of the family, Gavin … well, he has my heart. How could he not with those striking blue eyes and the sweetest smile of all time? He’s only a few months older than my youngest daughter so maybe he’s future so-in-law material? I suppose I should let him get all of his teeth first before handing over a dowry, but still … a mom can dream.

Weeda family, I can’t thank you enough for allowing me once again to capture your love. You guys are amazing and I just adore you! I hope you enjoy your photos!

Happy Birthday, Gavin! You are loved beyond measure!
